چکیده
The fluctuating gravitational field in inhomogeneous and clustered self-gravitating systems. Abstract. In this paper I extend the results of Ahmad & Cohen (1973), regarding the study of the probability distribution of the stochastic force in homogeneous gravitational systems, to inhomogeneous gravitational ones. To this aim, I study the stochastic force distribution using N-body realizations of Plummer's spherically symmetric models. I find that the stochastic force distribution obtained for the evolved system is in good agreement with Kandrup's (1980) theory of stochastic force in inhomogeneous systems. Correlation effects that arise during the evolution of the system of particles are well described by Antonuccio-Delogu & Atrio-Barandela's (1992) theory.

Local stability criterion for self-gravitating disks in modified gravity
We study local stability of self-gravitating fluid and stellar disk in the context of modified gravity theories which predict a Yukawa-like term in the gravitational potential of a point mass. We investigate the effect of such a Yukawa-like term on the dynamics of self-gravitating disks. More specifically, we investigate the consequences of the presence of this term for the local stability of t...
متن کاملO ct 1 99 8 Parallelization of a Tree - Code for the Simulation of Self – Gravitating Astrophysical Systems
We have preliminary results on the parallelization of a Tree-Code for evaluating gravitational forces in N-body astrophysical systems. Our HPF/CRAFT implementation on a CRAY T3E machine attained an encouraging speed-up behavior, reaching a value of 75 with 128 processor elements (PEs). The speed-up tests regarded the evaluation of the forces among N = 130, 369 particles distributed scaling the ...

Allowing the energy of a gravitational field to serve partially as its own source allows gravitating bodies to exhibit stronger fields, as if they were more massive. Depending on degree of compaction of the body, the field could be one to five times larger than the Newtonian field. This is a comfortable range of increase in field strength and may prove to be of convenience in the study of vel...
متن کاملSelf-gravitating Gas: Ii. Local Physical Magnitudes and Fractal Structures
We complete our study of the self-gravitating gas by computing the fluctuations around the saddle point solution for the three statistical ensembles (grand canonical, canonical and microcanonical). Although the saddle point is the same for the three ensembles, the fluctuations change from one ensemble to the other. The zeroes of the small fluctuations determinant determine the position of the c...
